Brazilian Restaurant Canberra

Canberra's only dedicated Brazilian street food restaurant — serving crispy pastéis, slow-cooked meats and authentic sweets from São Paulo

    The Food

Brazilian street food is built around the feira — the weekend market. Stalls packed with crispy pastéis fresh from the fryer, Pão de Queijo pulling apart at the seam, slow-cooked Costela falling off the bone. Mr. B Pastel brings that tradition to Canberra, recipe for recipe.

Everything on the menu has its roots in São Paulo street food culture — the thin, bubbly pastel dough developed over generations, the Brigadeiro rolled in house from condensed milk, the beef ribs slow-cooked for 12 hours overnight. There are no shortcuts and no pre-made batches. Each order is cooked fresh.

Our signature is the pastel — a paper-thin pastry shell deep-fried until it blisters and crackles. Fillings include Beef & Cheese, Chicken & Cream Cheese, Heart of Palm (Palmito), and Cheese Blend. Each pastel is sealed, pressed, and dropped into oil to order. You'll hear the sizzle before you smell it.

Beyond pastéis, the sanduba is Mr. B's other obsession — a Brazilian-style sandwich built on toasted bread with 12-hour slow-cooked Costela (beef rib) or crispy chicken, topped with chimichurri and house sauces. One sandwich, completely full. And for dessert: Brigadeiros rolled and coated in house, and Pão de Queijo — naturally gluten-free Brazilian cheese bread that's chewy inside, crispy outside.
